Almost there! I'd just like to thank all of those who turned up to support the kids today. You are a vital cog in the well-oiled machine that is CET. A special mention also to the children as they performed fantastically in yet another wonderful assembly.
Please find attached the powerpoint used in today's assembly and tune in next week for a full and final update.

It was a slightly curtailed week but one in which I was as pleased as ever with the amount and quality of work produced by Year 2. We have spent a large portion of the week preparing for our class assembly this coming Friday. We have been making some videos and adding the finishing touches to our Powerpoint Presentations. I won't reveal anymore detail than that, you'll just have to come on Friday to see (or keep an eye on the website those of you who are away)!
Mathematics saw us revise on time and work on our accuracy in telling time down to the minute. Literacy was also assembly focused and had us preparing our scripts.

As you all know we also had a fantastic day on Thursday which was one of the most keenly contested sports days in memory. The Blue team emerged as marginal victors but congratulations to all involved for making it such a successful occasion. The children behaved very, very well, all contests were well supported and we all enjoyed some tasty food afterwards. Thank you to all of the parents and family members who attended. Your continued support is fundamental to our schools success.

It was quite a tough week as we had assessments in both Literacy and Maths in which all of the children achieved pleasing results. (Don't worry parents, I shall email you all the exact numbers over the weekend!)
PE saw us involved in our second tennis lesson of the semester and play a rip-roaring and closely contested game of hockey in the beautiful Tyumen sunshine.
In IPC we learned about and sketched some of Siberia's flora and fauna (the results of which you will see in our class assembly in a few weeks), compared the way of life in cities now with what it used to be in the past and we also started collating what we have learned so far into a Powerpoint Presentation!
And finally, massive congratulations to Anna whose hard work and display of our IPC personal goals has earned her a Pearl Certificate!

Our first week of a new topic and we had to search the school up and down just to find out what it was! Mr. McKenna had left clues for us to find and once they were all solved we had to decipher an anagram to reveal the topic's name - Our World. We continued by creating our own city maps and then using the I-Pads to help us find the location of different places in Russia. In Mathematics we did some revision of number patterns and fractions while Literacy saw us studying quest stories. We heard some of Oliver Jeffers' work and next week we are going o plan and write our own! This was also our first week of tennis which will continue on every Monday of this term. We were also outside for our in-school PE lesson, playing hockey! |

Well that was a fantastic way to start term. We dug our teeth into the most in-depth of topics as we trawled through the issues that effect this planet. We worked hard and it all ended with a glorious bake sale in which an impressive (as of yet uncounted) amount of cash was raised for charity.
Back to more routine work next week. We need to tidy up whats left of our Maths and Literacy work, as well as begin our new topic which I will leave unnamed for the moment as the children will have some detective work to do on Monday before its' revelation.
Welcome back everyone!
