Toys
Toy Museum
Last week we explored old toys, sorted out the toys into new and old, found out the CET favourite toys by doing a survey around the school and investigated the toys in the international aspect.
During our Literacy lessons we learnt some words and phrases that we could use to describe old toys, such as scratched, rusty, worn, broken etc. We also read a story "Poor Old Rabbit" and wrote down a sentence of our favourite part of this story. As a part of learning about toys in the international aspect we discovered the traditional toys from different countries and focused on the toys from our home ad host countries. Therefore we created a Class book "Traditional toys from around the world".
As it was our last week of "Toys" unit, we went on a school trip as a part of an Exit Point. We visited a Tyumen Puppet Theatre where we had an excursion about the theatre and its puppets.
We had an opportunity to look at some puppets closely and even try to operate them. We also were so lucky as the guide let us in the Puppet store room where we could see a rich variety of puppets.
It was a very exciting, unforgettable and amazing trip!
At Maths lessons we compared the sizes and weight of the toys by revising such vocabulary as heavier/lighter, narrow/wide, thin/thick. We also learnt how to count in twos and found it a bit tricky but a lot of exercises and games helped us to get it.
Week 4
Puppets
Our last week was devoted to Puppets. As we consider puppets as toys we learnt some information about them: we investigated the types of puppets (for example finger, glove, sock, string, rod, lollipop stick and shadow puppets); then looked at their history, discovered the famous puppets from different countries including our home and host countries. We also did an art and craft work every day and created our own puppets.

We also learnt some prepositions of place and had a Toy Hunt around the school by listening to and following the directions and describing the positions of the hidden toys.

As it was our last week of the IPC unit "Animals" we invited our parents for Class Assembly to see our knowledge and progress in learning about animals and demonstrate some of our work in Art, Literacy and Maths.
As we know that animals take important part of our life on the planet we must take care of them and make sure that we look after Environment so that all the animals could live in their habitats. We painted our own posters of Global Issues to invite all the people to take care about our Planet and living things on it.

Safari Animals
This week Early Years learnt all about the animals from Africa.
We pretended that we went on Safari and spied a variety of animals there.
First we discussed what we should wear and take with us to go on Safari and showed it by cutting and sticking the particular pictures for it. Then we created our own binoculars to see the animals better on Safari as they are far away from us.
Our Safari Role-Play Area
During our literacy lesson we read and watched the video of story "We all went on Safari". Then we did a writing and drawing work to retell this story.
We also were writing facts about Safari animals that we could see through the binoculars; and we learnt some descriptive words of the animals, for example furry, fluffy, cute, shy, rough, fast etc.
Our Maths lessons
Our computer class
As a part of our Safari journey we discovered the Big 5 from Africa: lion, buffalo, elephant, cheetah and rhinoceros. Then we created our class Safari scene with these animals in it.
We also did some art work of African sunset and the animal sillhouettes

Week 2

Jungle animals
Our second week of the IPC unit "Animals" was devoted to the animals and insects in the Jungle. We learnt the names of some Jungle animals and acted like them making their sounds. We read some stories about the Jungle and animals there as well as discovered some facts about them and looked at their features.
As we explored the Jungle animals and minibeasts we painted our favourite animals from the Jungle, then did a collage work of the jungle animals, created our own insects with craft materials and made our own Jungle scene on the computer.
We also discovered that animals hide from their victims to catch and eat them and from dangerous animals or from people with the help of camouflage. Can see the camouflaged animals? What are they?
Three little monkeys eating bananas for snack, just like the monkeys in the Jungle.
During the Literacy lessons we read a story "You noisy monkey!" and looked at Fiction and Non-Fiction books. We also searched for some information about the Jungle animals in the non-fiction books so that we could write our own facts about them.
We pretended that we walked in the Jungle and could see different animals and objects then wrote their names and illustrated them.
During our Maths lessons we practiced reading
the number names to 20.
Revised addition of the simple numbers to 10.
We also looked at the animals sizes and learnt how to compare two objects (animals) so we used the paperclips to measure the animal pictures and compare their length, height and size.
Practicing writing and recognising our letter sounds and tricky words
Our second Dance lesson was fun as it was together with Year 1
Our first Dance lesson in 2015, Week 1. Enjoy!
Week 1
12.01.2015
On the first week we started our new IPC unit "Animals". It was a very interesting and informative week as we learnt a lot of general information about the animals, did a search work with the
help of variety of books about them, computer activities, videos and presentations on the Interactive White Board and Role Play Area where we could play with the toy animals, matching cards and puzzles.
We discussed the Habitats, different places where the animals live.
We looked at the animals skin colours and patterns. We chose our favourtie animals and painted our hands with their patterns.
It was so exciting!
Can you guess what animals we are?
As the animals are living things they need to eat like us. We learnt the names of the animal groups according to the type of food they eat and we also looked at the food chains as we know that sometimes animals can eat other animals.
Animals like people have babies therefore we found out that there are special names for the baby animals and then explored the animals life cycle, looked at how they grow and change.
Animals are amazing creatures! They have different parts of bodies which have their special function. For example Fish fins help them to swim, the elephant trunk helps it to eat, drink and wash itself, frogs have a long sticky tongue that helps them to catch their food - insects.
Then we also found out that all animals have different feet and we went on the Animals Tracks Hunt. We found the animals footprints, did their sketches and after we painted our own feet to make our footprints to see how people's feet differ from the animals' ones.
Now we know that some animals don't sleep in the night time, therefore there are two groups of them: Nocturnal animals and Diurnal animals.
We had a noisy and joyful PE lesson as we tried to act and move like some animals.
During our Literacy lessons we read a book "I looked through my window" and did many various activities with it: creating a zig-zag book, writing the animals names, retelling the story with our hand-made puppet theatre.
Our first Dance lesson with Miss Polina
